High-performance Optical Fiber Multi-mode Step-index Low OH 0.37 NA 1500/1535 Um Optec Fibers Optic Cable Internet
A medical fiber probe is a length of optical fiber protected by a coating or jacket with two specifically prepared ends. One end is typically equipped with a connector interfacing the laser and the other (distal) end is cleaved or polished, or can feature a special design (angle, side-fire, sphere, protective glass, etc.).
Key Selection Criteria
- Laser source specifications (wavelengths, power level, spot size, input/output NA)
- Design and dimensions (maximum external diameter, length, specific design, bend radius)
- Environmental factors (temperature, chemical exposure, biocompatibility, sterilization method)
Hicorpwell Special Large Core Diameter Fibers
These fibers feature a silica core, hard polymer cladding, and ETFE coating. Their large core diameter and high NA (0.37) provide efficient coupling to laser sources. While HCW fibers can handle high power, all-silica fibers are more suitable for high-power applications.
The polymer cladding construction provides high tensile strength, excellent flexibility, and small bend radius for optimal placement in medical applications. This design offers cost-effectiveness while maintaining exceptional mechanical performance.
Silica/Silica Fibers
Medical applications using fiber optic delivery with high-power lasers (Nd YAG, diode, Ho YAG) are increasing. The laser power damage threshold of pure silica is approximately 1 GW/cm² for pulsed lasers and 2 MW/cm² for continuous operation.
Applications
Automotive, avionics communications, power generation SCADA systems, high-power laser delivery, industrial automation, laser therapy and surgery, medical lasers, spectroscopy, and short-to-medium distance communications.
Ideal for use with 650 and 850 nm active devices. For medical applications, it is USP Class VI non-toxic, biocompatible, and sterilizable.

Advantages of Hicorpwell Silica Fibers
All-silica fibers improve power handling and wavelength range compared to standard fibers. For maximum power transmission, the beam must be properly focused into the fiber core. The higher core-to-clad ratio (1.1 to 1.2) in all-silica fibers allows acceptance of some energy in the cladding without damage.
